So this week I go to Europe...

WOOOOOOOOOOT! Two more days! Now I can be really excited because I am in that mode where I am scrambling to get everything done because after Wednesday - I will be gone!

This is going to be amazing! My best friend and I are off to the Netherlands on Wednesday, we have her brother's wedding on Saturday, then on Monday my other best friend is meeting us in Belgium and we are going on a CHOCOLATE tour! Wednesday we make our way back to Amsterdam to start a Contiki group tour and from there we tour through Berlin, Prague, and finally end up in Rome for a few days!

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME! It's the chance of a lifetime really. I will miss my little guy so much, but I have to be present in the moment and I am looking forward to all the things he learns from Grandma and Grandpa while I am away. They devote so much time to him, he gets so spoiled over there and just LOVES it!

I also completed my August Diet and Training Program. July is going to be a write-off. I am back August 1st and I am sure I will be relieved to be back on a routine schedule. I weighed myself this morning after avoiding the scale all week, and I was pleasantly surprised to see 163 lbs. It felt like much more. I haven't been bingeing, but I have been snacking lots - drinking 'a bit' or more, and discovering so many people I haven't seen in a while to do lunch and dinners with! I forget what the inside of my gym looks like, but my clothes still fit, even if they don't like quite as good as they did two weeks ago!

And now, to tackle this to-do list!

    Normalcy

Freedom can be hard thing to handle sometimes! After months of dieting for this show - and months prior to that dieting after baby - I could really go to town right now! But surprisingly (to myself!) I haven't been. My weight is somewhere in the low 160s, I am off of my herbal diuretics, and I don't look awful! Yay! Sometimes that's all you can hope for four days post-show!

I feel good, I have been eating clean by choice for the past three days and just enjoying the introduction of foods that are tasty but still healthy like rice crackers, oatmeal, protein powder, and milk in my coffee!

I had a couple of snacks, a brownie on Monday baked by a girl at the gym and a protein bar today. But as far as sugar goes, that's it. I still feel in control!

And the results from the WBFF show are up and as an end result, I was 4th! Next year there is a Spring show in Montreal for the WBFF that I think would be a lot of fun to do, so I am aiming for that.

But for now, the focus is on family, organization, and EUROPE in less than a week! Woot woot!

    The Day After!

And the final result: Top 5! Not bad for such a big show!

I was going to title this blog 'Un-Amazing People' as a sequel to my previous blog, but I am holding back and taking the high road tonight!

I will say this: I was slammed and criticized extremely harshly via the web tonight, and although I know that I certainly put myself out there in many ways to receive this kind of feedback, I am also very careful to be extremely respectful of others' choices and hope that positivity and respect comes full circle. Sometimes it doesn't and I do feel sorry for the toxicity in peoples' lives where they feel the need to attack me in an act of defensiveness because I made a choice that didn't suit their agenda.

I stand by the choices that I have made, I never said I was perfect, and life is much too short to hate and attack. On a related note, there are still people in this world that inspire me with their positivity and who came to my defense and went above and beyond that unexpectedly. So thank-you.

    Moving on :)

So what does one do the day after a season is over??? Here's a day in the life of me! For fun!

8 am: Wake Up - I am extremely sore in my shoulders and back. Is it possible that i pump up harder than I work out???
8:30 am: Take ANOTHER shower - and then do another full bathroom wipe down to try to get rid of the JanTana residue!
9 am: Breakfast! Sorry I am not more exciting but I had Oatmeal, 1 scoop of protein powder, and 10 almonds... and a latte! Little man had his oatmeal too.
10 am: Clean, clean, clean! So much crap that has been put off around the house! My little helper followed me around as we cleaned!
11 am: Snack time - a protein bar for me, a yogurt for the little man
12 pm: Candice my hair guru comes over and takes out my extensions! My head is now 10 lbs lighter!
12:45 pm: Lunch Time - 12 Rice Crackers and a can of flavoured Tuna! Yum! Little man had chicken meatballs and a banana.
1:30 pm: Tried to put Michael for an early nap - he kind of dozed but not really! I caught up on some computer stuff.
2:30 pm: Snack time - a Protein shake with a banana, Lactaid Milk, and Splenda!
3:00 pm: Off to a 2 year old Birthday Party! Woot woot! I stop for a Starbucks Skinny Vanilla Latte en route.
3:30 pm: Lots of little kids at the party! The Mom and I both competed yesterday (she was the third place winner!) So we get into the chips, salsa, guacamole, and a lime margarita!
5:00 pm: Michael eats an entire Hot Dog after downing a juice box.
6:00 pm: Time for Cake - Michael eats a whole piece of delicious KungFu Panda cake with a bit of help from Mom! Then Mom grabs a burger with cheese and pickles!
6:30 pm: Time for Mel and Tanis' Special Cake! Mel's sister put together two cakes especially for us with an amazing variety of deliciousness! Lots of chocolate, marshmallow, peanut butter cream, m&ms.... soooooo good. I am at a point where I am force feeding myself the cake because it tastes so good, but I have no room left!
7:00 pm: Candy pinata and presents, Michael keeps snacking... and decides NOW he wants to play!
7:30 pm: We get home, Michael has some Milk, Mom has a Diet Pepsi.
8:00 pm: Bath time - washing all of the fruit punch and chocolate out of the rolls of my little chub-bub's neck!
8:30 pm: Bed Time for Little Man - Computer and work time for Mom.
10 pm: It's my Free Day - I eat part of the cake I brought home!

And tomorrow - back on track! Only 9 days until Europe!

    Amazing People

It's nice to be in Calgary between shows! I can feed my computer addiction and share with you my experience at the morning show which is still fresh in my mind.

I was calm this morning. Knowing today is the last show, knowing I have nothing to lose, and even feeling like maybe I shouldn't expect too much as I have softened up a bit from my peak.

This federation of the WBFF prides itself on marketability and 'total package' which i like because time after time I do fall short of being the leanest, or the smallest, or the most conditioned girl on stage. I am happy with the way I look overall, but I can always pick apart things that can be better.

The show is packed with BEAUTIFUL girls. Seriously, backstage is a swarm of them. 5 years agao I think I would have felt jealousy, envy, insecurity... all of those toxic feelings that overcome us when we don't feel good enough. But experience has taught me that you NEVER know somebody's story and in this crazy industry where we like to be assessed and judged, that it is dangerous, toxic, and negative to be judgmental yourself. I honestly feel genuine excitement for everyone, they all made it to this day despite amazing odds and it is awesome.

Figure Tall is my category and not only am I in a class with top girls I have previously competed with in the ABBA, but there were top FAME pros there, as well as a client and friend and a trainer that i work with.

    I made first callouts.

Expected, not expected - I didn't know quite what to think. But sure enough I was called up into the top 6 comparisons along with my trainer and client. It's a good feeling when you feel that certain people are getting what they deserve and you are in that crowd as well.

So I feel good. It was a great morning. I kept good company and I am looking forward to tonight. I'll take lots of pics backstage!
    July 03

    Tomorrow!

WBFF show tomorrow! The final show of the season!

I am not in 'peak' shape, I am in a semi-maintained shape from my first show almost a month ago. There were definitely some very beautiful girls at the registration tonight, all shapes and sizes. It was nice to see. There is a really positive energy in the air and although competing and being judged can be intimidating and stressful, it's also comforting to know that everyone has a story and nobody's body is ever 'perfection'.

Lots of great girls, lots of great people. I'm excited.

I have my tan on and am getting drier by the minute. I am going to head to bed early and get up around 6:30 am for my make-up. By this time tomorrow I will be drinking the grape flavored protein water I am saving from the AMAZING athlete gift bag we got tonight. Here's some pics with my tan, but no make-up! My face and hair will be better and more glammed for the show!

    July 02

    Final Water Drop

    Weight: 148.5 lbs

That was the first number that came up on the scale after work this morning - usually I hop on a few times and take the best one, but I was happy with this and didn't want to see any other number! No 150s today! No water either, I get a couple small coffees a day to look forward to but I am on the FINAL dehydration of the 2009 season!

Back to reality on Monday diet-wise. My 'reality' will always have to be controlled though. I do not naturally regulate my eating like I should. I LOVE LOVE LOVE food and I have to find the balance between that love and between the love I have for my health and my body. My next food plan has chicken, asparagus, and cucumber too - but it also has rice cakes, tuna, oatmeal, rice, and a couple of treat meals which I intend to use wisely. My workouts are a prioriyt, but an hour a day can fit around time with my family and for my work. If I miss one day - it's okay.

Pics from today, I am in Calgary for this show, so perhaps I can do some pics tomorrow night and even Saturday morning so I can see how my dry phase progresses.
