4月30日 May Meltdown!Tomorow marks the first day of May. A new month is a fresh slate for a renewed state of mind. It's cardio time and I am now picking up my cardio to almost a peak. That can be very draining if I enter it with a mood of 'dread', but I would rather change my perspective and look forward to the kcik in the butt it is going to give me to fine tune my physique!
Of course, because obstacles will always present themselves - an old neck injury started acting up today. i am on the mend and hoping to be 100% by Saturday. Optimism.

4月29日 45 Days!Yikes! Really? That seems so close!!!
It just hit me how soon I will be at this show, on stage, with no chance for a do-over! Everything I do from now until competition day counts! Organization, commitment, and relentlessness... that's what it's going to take!
I am stupid busy... it seems ridiculous, but I love it! When I am busy things HAVE to get done! Once I complete one task I am on to the next, that's the way I operate best.
I am training with my trainers Martha and Karma and the combo is awesome. Either I am going to totally rock it or die trying! Hopefully not the latter! I am happy with my shape and the way i appear to be getting smaller and leaner, but I am frustrated that my weight doesn't seem to be going down accordingly. As Martha said today though - don't make it about the scale!
I did a shoot on Saturday I am pretty happy with. I got to work with David Ford and Annette Milbers and the combination was amazing. A lot of fun and very positive people to be around. I wish i could totally detoxify my surroundings of negativity. Honestly, competition can bring out the best and worst in people and I am all for healthy competition. Absolutely I want to win this show and I want to be on top - but not with the hopes that someone else does poorly or has a bad prep. In fact, I hope everyone is 'spot on' at the show and comes in their best condition - that's a real competition. If the girl next to me in the line-up on June 13 is at the gym getting better, then I have to get better. And in the end we all push ourselves to a higher level. This process is life changing, you can't explain it someon,e you truly have to experience it and give yourself to it full force.
And I feel like it is just starting to sink in with my first time competitors for this season. They are truly transforming inside and out.
My plan for tomorrow (planning is ESSENTIAL!!!)
4 am: Morning Cardio
4:30 am: Breakfast
5:30 am: Teach Boot Camp
6:30 am: Routine Practice
7:30 am: Teach Boot Camp
8:30 am: Run Errands
9:30 am: Snack and Shower
10:00 am: Play date (for my son of course!)
12:00 pm: Lunch
1:30 pm: Hot Yoga
3:30 pm: Coach
5:30 pm: Snack Break
8:30: Come Home and Dinner
9:00 pm: Online Programs and Work
11:00 pm: Veg Out and watch The Office on PVR!
11:30 pm: Bed time!
My training and diet has to be on more than ever!
NO COMPLAINTS, NO EXCUSES! 4月23日 Busy!Yes, I have been slacking on my blog! I know it's because of the multitude of other things on my plate right now, but I do like the record-keeping and informational purpose this blog serves!
Full contest mode going on right now. I am super motivated and really optimistic about this season. My diet is steady, my workouts have been cranked up a notch, I am training with both Martha and Karma and it is awesome. Just what I need! People who make me do all those things I know I should do but I don't! We all need that! My routine choreography is in and this routine is UNBELIEVABLE! Right now I can't even fathom getting through it, but that is the thrill! I have time scheduled next week to train my gymnastics, just so I can put it together. We'll see how my old bod handles it! I need to be able to do it by 4 weeks out so I can get a video critique by Lishia Dean and Jen Hendershott, so right now it looks as though I will be doing routine practice 5 days a week until then on top of my regular training.
My hair is very long and very blonde! I have a big photo shoot on Saturday and I am hoping to have a different but put-together look for it. Tomorrow I am being high maintenance all day to prep. It's fun though!
And all of my girls are looking phenomenal. Most of them are around the 10 week out mark and they have made such big changes already I cannot wait to see what they do in the next 10 weeks! And my weight-loss clients are making me proud as well! There's a good energy going around right now!
Anyways, I am off to bed... so so so tired! And it's a sleep in day tomorrow which makes me happy! 4月18日 8 Weeks Out!Crunch time! The stage is less than two months away! Crazy! Things are going well, but that pressure is starting to loom, my body is changing, but I always think it's not changing as fast as I would like. I am still struggling with my newfound 'Mommy Tummy' and am thicker around the waist than usual and I still have that bulk in my legs that needs to come down as well as some extra fat around my hips and thighs. On the positive - My shoulders are great, my back started to lean out to a nice place this week, and my new blonde hair is super fun! I get extensions later this week and can't wait for those! Thanks Candice!
I just got home from my trainer's Boot Camp. It was awesome! I love when there is a range of competitors because everyone is at a different 'stage' of the journey and it is amazing to watch. This is life changing! Literally, this process will change how you view and empower yourself. It's a wacky world sometimes but it is so worth while.
This week in training we are making some changes. Enter morning cardio - booooo! Only 20 minutes a day for now, but it's getting into the routine that challenges me! I am not allowed to do anything until morning cardio is done! So that 4:30 am wake-up call on Boot Camp days turns into 4 am! Yikes! All part of the process though, I am lucky to have a body that is capable of being pushed to these kind of limits. I just have to remind myself of that at 4 am! Also, I will be training with Martha but also with Karma Schopp - a fellow competitor - who I will be on stage with! Her and Martha have the same philosophy and I know she is passionate about this sport so we are going to do some sessions together to round out my program. It seems as though it would be an odd scenario to be trained by a fellow competitor but I think it's a motivating one! We are the same height with very different bodies and the ultimate challenge of this sport is to get your body to it's best place, if we both peak and step on stage together, there's nothing more we can do but let the judges decide. And Karma's stengths are my deficits which will be a great challenge for my training. I'm looking forward to it!
All of my competitive girls and weight-loss clients are kicking a$s right now!!! Plateaus happen, but you can't get down when they do. Keep pushing forward and remember it is the overall result that counts!
4月13日 Happy Easter!I'm still up! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and all of my competitive girls made it through the holiday without missing chocolate too much!
I am still in the process of finishing up the programs on my plate in the next couple of days so if you are waiting on me, it's coming! I am a very detail-oriented person and I triple check things to ensure my plans are completely customized to fit your needs. It's amazing to hear and see the results! Great work is being done around here!
Someone who did not follow any kind of diet plan tonight was my little chubby kid Michael. He officially ate more than I did at dinner chowing down on ham, mashed potatos, carrots, cauliflower... and some chocolate too! My little piggy, he loves to eat! He's so funny. Amazing how much they change in a year. I distictly remember last Easter, I stayed home with him that night - we didn't do a dinner. I was on my H-Core baby weight loss plan, and he couldn't even sit up yet! I propped him on the couch in a yellow sleeper and took pictures of him with a little stuffed bunny! And I totally recall doing it like it was last month or something. Wow. Time needs to slow down a bit here!
Still spots left in my GYMFUSION Boot Camp session starting Tuesday morning! 5:30 am, 6:30 am, or 7:30 am! Come on - I AM a great start to your day! We have a lot of fun in these classes, it's hard work but it pays off! Sign up for your summer hot bod at http://www.myclasspro.com/Tanisfit
Maybe I should try to get some sleep now! Night! 4月11日 9 Weeks OutAnother drop in weight this week which was relieving considering I dropped big last week and had a cold this week which prevented me from working out as much as I should have!
This week will be great. It is supposed to be nice all week, boot camps start up again, and I am 2 weeks from a big photo shoot so I really have to put in the extra effort!
There is still time and spots available for GYMFUSION Boot Camps starting Tuesday! Also, registartion is up for June's session as well as the NEW Strollercize and Adult Outdoor Boot camps in South Calgary! Check out www.myclasspro.com/TanisFit
4月7日 AwesomenessI am only weighing myself on Saturdays! So I have no idea weight-wise where I am!
Went to the Britney Spears concert in Edmonton last night and it was awesome. She's a spectacle if nothing else, you know all her songs and she really makes a theatrical production with them. It was a circus theme so there was plenty of unorthodox entertainment within the show. She looks terrific now and the show was well worth it!
Edmonton is great for shopping too! My best friend Heather and I 'power shopped' our way through West Ed yesterday, my husband says I am getting expensive, but I feel good about all of my purchases. No regrets!
This week should be better than last since my body is stabilizing and my energy levels are coming back. i am at the end of a cold and once it's passed I think I should feel great. Hot yoga tonight at 9pm. I've never done a class that late, we'll see how I sleep after. Probably pretty great!

I will still run the early morning camps from the North East out of Stampede City Gymnastic Club, but starting June 9 I will be adding a 10am Strollercize Outdoor Boot Camp, an 11am Strollercize Outdoor Boot Camp, and a 12pm Adult Outdoor Bootcamp. All from the New Brighton area in the South East. These camps will run 5 weeks and registration will be online shortly.
That's all for now! And 'tis the season for Nutrition plans! I've got plenty that I am finishing up this week and then I will be ready for another load. Get your head start on bikini season by getting your eating cleaned up! Go to www.tanisfit.com and contact me to get started today! 4月4日 Update: Heather O won OVERALL Figure Title!Pics to come, but I just wanted to shout out a huge congrats to my Figure competitor out East who took the overall Figure title this evening! She worked hard and did everything she was supposed to despite a busy schedule as a full-time student at Dalhousie University and a job as a physiotherapist. She wanted it bad enough, she made no excuses for herself and she came out on top. Well-deserved! Yay Heather O!Just got some pics from the morning show over in the Maritimes from my client Heather O! We did all the dieting and training online and she stepped on stage this morning feeling and looking great! Here she is with family and friends this morning, and on stage second from left. The girl on the far left is a National level Figure competitor and Heather is beside her holding her own at her very first show! I love it! Way to go! ![]() ![]() 10 Weeks Out!Weight: 160 lbs
Okay - I'm sold. Last Saturday my body was out of whack, I didn't go too crazy with the eating but I was bloated, anxious, and adjusting to the no sweetener / no caffeine thing. I weighed myself late Saturday night and I was 173.5. It's not that legit to count it compared to today when I weighed myself because today was first thing in the morning - but it's my blog and I will do what I want to! That way I lost 13.5 lbs this week! It's like being on the Biggest Loser!
I should weigh far less than 160 right now in my head, but I will take it and run with it and hope that this new diet is the boost I need. Yes, it's hard. Yes, I am still hungry. But i am not deprived, I am not overtaxed, and I am not going to die from it! No complaints, no excuses. It's on!
I will put pics in my album. I am thinking weekly now, just because I have my final suit and even though it doesn't quite fit yet, I can get it on and each week is going to get better and better. Today won't be pretty though but we have to face reality!
HEATHER OSMOND is on stage right now! I have my cell phone out ready for the news! It's her first show and she is super nervous but deserves to show off all of her hard work! I told her to send pics as soon as possible. I can't wait!
We had a long night at home last night. My little man has a respiratory virus and I think it peaked last night. Every time he laid down he would start gasping for air and coughing non-stop. I had to rock him upright while he slept on me so he could get some rest. Today he still sounds like Darth Vader but it's better than the night was. He's being sucky today and whimpering at everything so he's getting lots of cuddles in hopes that he feels better soon! That's what you get for kissing too many girls little one!
CAN'T WAIT for Monday too! I'm in Edmonton for some shopping and some Britney!!! It'll be lots of fun! 4月2日 PlanningI'm a planner. Always have been. I make lists endlessly, I create grandiose schemes that I make schedules for and I love it. It keeps me organized and on target with my goals.
To take my mind off the diet I took some time to plan my schedule for the next couple of weeks. I have specific workouts that need to get done and then I have some freedom. For me, the workouts are completely secondary to the diet. The diet is going to get me where I need to be and as long as I am keeping pace with my necessary workouts, I can really go out and do what I like the most for the rest of them. I still love hot yoga and I now have 3 places i go to according to the day and time. I also love Ashtanga yoga and am getting at least one class a week of that. In the next couple of weeks I am going to try a few different classes at my gym that fit into my schedule including a water aerobics class, a muscle power class, and a different bootcamp class. I have fit them all in either mid-morning or during Michael's naps.
I have also scheduled in my sleep. Now that my body is actually going through a normal daily cycle, sleep has become so much more important to me than it has ever been. On days when I do not run my bootcamps I am not getting up with an alarm. I have nothing planned before 9. And on Monday and Wednesday nights when i have boot camps the next day, I am not coming home to the TV or computer. Only bed!
Today was the last day of this session of Boot Camps! Now we have a week off before the next session starts on April 14. Sign up at www.myclasspro.com/Tanisfit it's a great workout! Everyone really rocked out this session, it's amazing the progress that can be made with the right 'type' of training.
I met with my lawyer today and got my Minute Book and Corporate Seal which was fun! It was kind of funny and surreal to sign my paperwork as the President of TanisFit Inc. but I guess I am the 'President'! Ha ha, it's just funny to me. Also on a competitive note I am 10 weeks out on Saturday (pics to come IN my newest suit (it's beautiful!) and I also have been sponsored by LG Sciences which is awesome and they are taking really good care of me. I'm just being educated on their products right now and I will definitely share the results with you! Otherwise, life is good, I am still hungry but I'm doing good! I am wishing my best to all the Stampede City girls competing in Edmonton this weekend as well as my client Heather Osmond who is competing in the Maritimes Figure Championships on Saturday! She looks amazing and should do very very well! Can't wait for the results!
4月1日 The First WeekI am halfway through the first week of my new plan designed to size me down and not tax my system. So far it's been interesting and a challenge. But it's do-able.
The 'detox' week I did was harder than this week. Getting off 'the caf' was one of the toughest things I could have ever imagined doing, but now that it's gone, it's okay. The sweetener was about the same, I had to accept that it is 'no longer part of my life'. It's the kind of attitude change you have to take on when letting go of something, anything really. It's gone, and I am better off without it.
Some interesting observations I have had about myself over the last couple of weeks have had to do with my natural hydration levels. I started drinking much more water that first week instead of coffee and diet pop. My weight would normally vary 3-5 lbs throughout the day with the morning being my lightest. Now I am so well hydrated all the time that my weight only varies a pound or so. I was super bloated getting off of caffeine though. And it didn't help that I took a disastrous cheat meal on Saturday night! My weight was up to 173.5 that night, it's back down under 163 so I know it's on the drop. I am also hungry... but that's all it is. It's just a physical hunger, it's not anxiety or craving. Just the physical feeling of hunger. And I know food is coming again.... so it is okay.
My body will adjust. My body will adjust. Only a matter of time! |
