And I reached my goal weight. It was a good month! Happy New Year! A New Year's QuestionnaireA friend of mine posted this... so I copied it! It's for fun.
1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
Gave birth, spotted Tkatchevs on bars, lost almost 90 lbs. 2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I had a healthy baby boy and lost the baby weight. I didn't compete like I thought I might like to. I travelled, but only to the US. Next year I would like to definitely compete as well as travel more. 3. Did anyone close to you give birth? I did. And I have met a lot of new friends this year because we have babies the same age. 4. Did anyone close to you die? Thankfully no. 5. What countries did you visit? US 6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? Travel. Not for long periods of time, but I would like to see some new places. 7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? January 28, the day my son was born. 8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Becoming a Mom. 9. What was your biggest failure? Not competing. 10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Thankfully no. 11. What was the best thing you bought? Can I be horribly vain and say my new post baby weight wardrobe? 12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My husband's for being such a great Dad, my best friend Heather's for being so brave and voluteering for months in Africa, my parents' for helping us out so much, and my girls at the gym for making me love my job. 13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? This may sound stupid, but there was an Oprah episode on child predators earlier this year that made me so upset and so appalled I was sick over it for weeks. Still am when I think about it. Anyone who hurts children or animals appalls me.
14. Where did most of your money go? Bills... My baby, going to California in the summer, and the NKOTB concert. 16. What song will always remind you of 2008? Blessed by Elton John. 17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer? Happier, thinner, and richer. 18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Vacationed, travelled. 19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Facebooked. 20. How did you spend Christmas? At home with family. 21. Did you fall in love in 2008? The Office

I am at peace. One more day this month, I have reached my goal weight, I have 3274 calories left tomorrow, and only one more hour of cardio!
Project January is to be 150 lbs. I want to continue daily blogs, this is really working for me, but with only 5 lbs to lose I am cutting my activity requirement in half. 50 000 calories and 50 hours of activity. I will also record my weight every morning. I fluctuate A LOT from day to day so it might be interesting to 'track' the trend. I'm excited. This year is going to be awesome for totally refining my body for competition. It won't be a last minute ten pounds in one week deal!
Day Twenty NineSorry I am a bit late on this! I am happy to say that I weighed 155 this morning reaching my 10 lbs goal for December.

Total Monthly Activity: 88 Hours December 26 Boxing Day BlogI'm not where I wanted to be weight wise this week, in fact I am up half a pound from last week. The dairy goes now. Cow's milk. It's been a vice I have been holding onto and now it has to go.
I love Christmas and this one was fantasic being Michael's first Christmas, but the whole food component is stressful. Quite honestly I spent a lot of time and energy into 'planning' how I could eat 'normally' and still keep my calories low while not annoying anyone with my over the top dieting. I couldn't take the day off as an exception because it was Christmas, because quite honestly I am capable of comsuming over 10 000 calories in one meal. If I had done that to myself I know I would feel much worse today than I already do. And I did not want to add that much work to my plate.
I screwed up yesterday and had Baklava and bread. I screwed up on the 19th and had mini cinnamon buns and lindt chocolates. If I don't meet my weight goal on Jan. 1 I can look at these things and ask myself if I truly deserved it.
I am doing a double of hot yoga today. 3 Hours of sweating and rejeuvenating. I am looking forward to it actually. My body needs it, but also my mind. December 25 Day Twenty FiveFood and Activity Diary for December 25:

December 20 Day TwentyThe days with Christmas parties and meals with friends are definitely the toughest. My strategy is to stay in control on those days and really avoid unnecessary calories on the days where I have nothing going on. I should be good for three more days, then it's X-mas Eve and X-mas Day. Then I should be good for the week until New Year's Eve. Here's hoping! Under 50 000 calories is the goal!

Friday's BlogI can't believe Christmas is in less than a week. Time goes by so fast! This will be my best one yet I am sure, Michael has already been spoiled beyond measure. He's too cute with his walking. He has taken up to 18 steps now and keeps trying to walk instead of crawl. We have our kids Christmas party at the gym club tonight so he should have fun around all of the girls.
As for Mission December, I am on track. I wanted to be ahead of the game before Christmas and New Years, but I am 2.5 lbs and 12 days away from my goal. I am thinking the last couple of pounds is always the toughest so I am ready to really give it my all these next few days. I really want to be on pace at 155 for the new year. Considering last New Years I think I was almost 240.
I was reminded of the 'old habits' I used to have with food. I used to have a major sweet tooth and I used to binge beyond the point of fullness. I truly believe that not having sugra and avoiding gluten helps curb these cravings and triggers, but they still creep up from time to time. Don't judge - but at one point this week I was so drained and upset and I actually contemplated opening a present I had wrapped for someone that was a box of Ferrerro Rochers, eating the whole box, and then buying and wrapping a new one the next day. I didn't. But I wanted to. And a year ago, I would have.
And I still remember how 'rock bottom' feels. I can still vividly recall how hard getting up my stairs was when I carried over 85 extra pounds. I still remember how deathly torturous that first hot yoga was 6 weeks after having Michael at over 200 lbs. I never want to be that out of shape again. I never want to cry again when absolutely nothing fits me. Never. I hated it more than I hate not being able to snack when I want to, or order what I would really like at a restaurant. The trade-off is obvious when I remind myself about that dark phase where I realized I let myself get to that weight, that size....
And the conversation in the delivery room between the night nurse and the day nurse on their shift relief. I was chilling out on my epidural and one nurse was handing off my chart and said 'Everything's going well right now, her only risk factor is her obesity' Obesity? Yes obesity. I was pregnant and obese... apparently once you rock out putting on 80 lbs from a weight already considered to be overweight, you're considered pregnant and obese. Never again. December 18 Day EighteenI was stress eating a bit today. My husband was in a bad accident on the Deerfoot last night and wrote off his car. He is fine, but the aftermath is a lot to deal with at a busy time like this. Plus today was my sushi day and I could have been fine with eating a bit less but I decided to gorge out.
